278 Ukrainian: A Comprehensive Grammar 7.3.2.4 Days of the week, months of the year The days of the week and names of the months are, strictly speaking, nouns (with the exception of one month, which is adjectival); however, when saying that X happened 'on day Y' or 'in month Z', such phrases belong in the same category as the adverbs of time, as they answer the question 'when?' For days of the week the preposition у is used with the accusative case, while for months it is у with the locative; note that лютий 'February' is the lone adjectival form in this set of words: Days of the Week Months of the Year Time понеділок вівторок середа четвер п'ятниця субота неділя Time When у понеділок у вівторок у середу у четвер у п'ятницю у суботу у неділю (Моп.)
