Singular -я _i -i -Ю -ЄЮ -i -e Plural -i -0 (-ей) -ЯМ і -ями -ях = N. H. P. д. 3. о. м. Кл. Stem-final consonants of the nouns of this declension are always soft. Below are four sample types, in which final -a is preceded by -Г-, -n'-, -j-, and finally by -c'- (ць). In comparison with the hard stems, there is less shifting of stress in this group of feminine nouns: STRESS E + S: ЗЄМЛЯ 'EARTH/LAND' N. G. D. A. I. L. V. Singular земля землі землі землю землею землі земле! - Однина Plural - Множина землі земель землям землі землями землях = N. н. р. д. 3. о. м. Кл. То be noted are the V.sg., in which we see the same retraction of stress as in the hard stems, and the stress pattern of the plural: the latter is identical to the pattern of вода, except that there is a fleeting vowel in the G.pl. that attracts the stress away from the initial syllable (for more on fleeting vowels, refer to Chapter 1). |
