The pronoun 185 Хтозна- is similar, but rather an expressive 'God' than the devil: Цей дріт приносить телеграми хтозна з якої далини. This wire brings telegrams from heaven knows what distant places. The ending '-ever' in such clauses as 'Whoever it might be' is conveyed as follows: Хто б це не був,... Finally, we might note the following additional adjective-like distributive pronouns which also fit in here, but present no particular difficulties of usage: кожен/кожний 'each', 'every' (seldom кождий): Кожен добре знає, як живуть в Україні. Everyone has a good idea how people live in Ukraine. жоден/жодний 'no', 'not a': He знаю жодного з них. І don't know any of them. всякий 'every', 'each', 'all manner of: На базарі продаються всякі овочі. All sorts of fruit are sold at the market. інший 'other', 'another' (i.e. different): Хтось інший буде там. Someone else will be there. (For 'another' in the sense of'yet another', ще 'still', 'yet' will be used.) інакший 'other', 'another', 'different', 'another sort of (інак(ше) 'otherwise', 'differently'): Словників у книгарнях нашого міста є дуже багато, а я шукав зовсім інакший словник, такого, я тепер добре знаю, немає тут. There are very many dictionaries in the bookshops of our city, but I was searching for one of a different kind, and such a dictionary, I now well know, simply is not to be found here. усілякий 'of all sorts': У тому парку є всілякі дерева.
